Gap cover

As many of you are aware, healthcare is a highly regulated environment, however, having a medical aid doesn’t mean you are 100% covered.  Each year members are experiencing substantial shortfalls in cover when claiming for a hospital event.  These shortfalls largely exist because of medical aids not covering the full cost of unregulated provider fees. 
 
Following a Gap Cover review process, NMG have secured a more affordable Gap Cover product to supplement your medical aid. With effect from 1 May 2023, Kaelo Western Gap Select and Kaelo Western Gap LPE will be introduced on a compulsory basis for all staff. This is to ensure that all staff are comprehensively covered for shortfalls that occur on hospital procedures and oncology treatment.  Western Gap LPE is only available to employees on Discovery KeyCare.

It is important to note that waiting periods on pre-existing health conditions will be applied to those employees that sign up for this product at a later stage.

The Next Step 

 

The take-on process will be done via a bulk upload system which means you will not be required to complete an application form.  Existing Stratum Gap members will be transferred to Kaelo Western Gap and new member details will be provided via HR.
